The Villanueva Families
Preserving Family History & Staying Connected
For years, Alice Garcia, the daughter of Oralia and Cruz Villanueva, gathered photos, collected stories, and mapped out the Villanueva family tree. The goal was to preserve as much family history as possible to pass on to future generations.
Initially the end result of her work would be a book. But the technical challenges and time commitment of publishing a book proved to be overwhelming. Her son, Aaron, stepped in and offered to build a website that could be developed overtime instead of requiring a completed final product. Choosing a website as the medium to share all that she had learned over the years also allowed for collaboration and the ability to connect family members.
